Open-source image codecs

Image processing runs locally. The HEIC decoder is loaded separately only when needed; PNG compression uses a dedicated worker.

HEIC / HEIF

heic-to 1.6.6 by Hopper Gee, LGPL-3.0, includes libheif 1.23.6 and libde265 1.0.16. Source packages include their original licenses and build instructions.

PNG compression

UPNG.js 2.1.0 by Photopea (Ivan Kutskir), MIT, and pako. The application uses its pinned pixel compression stage and separately sizes the output PNG chunks.

Local AI background removal

U2NetP is the lightweight U²-Net model by Xuebin Qin and contributors (Apache-2.0), distributed as an unchanged ONNX artifact from rembg. ONNX Runtime Web 1.30.0 by Microsoft and contributors uses the MIT license. The model is verified with a pinned SHA-256 before inference. Neither model nor runtime receives your images over the network.
